Wow, things are happening, and it looks like Richard's decision to spring for the trip to Web2.0 is paying off big time.

Way back in March this year Ross Mayfield started a cool list of dream mergers...my guess at the time was that Upcoming would be acquired by Evite:

my prediction is that Evite buys Upcoming in late 2005/early 2006 after it has gone fully viral and Upcoming event lists are a routine addition to the blog of any serious scenester.

I wasn't so bold as to predict a Yahoo! acquisition...that is bloody brilliant. Andy Baio is one of the most gifted and savvy developers around, so it is well deserved. As a dedicated Waxy links fan I just hope that his link posting frequency doesn't suffer.

Andy, on the off chance you read this I was thinking of emailing you a while back to offer you a URL I registered, onlocally.com...I figured that it might be a better domain in the long run if you wanted to commercialize the service. Probably a mute point now, but the offer still stands if you want it.
