No More Connexion
I'm late to pickup on this news, but it seems Boeing's inflight wireless broadband service, Connexion, is to be discontinued. I'm really disappointed. Here's a snip from an email I just got from them:
On August 17, 2006, the Boeing Company announced that after a detailed analysis of the Connexion by Boeing business, the company has decided to exit the high-speed broadband communications connectivity market. Boeing is now working with its customers to facilitate an orderly phase out of the Connexion by Boeing service.
Apparently while it all worked well there simply wasn't the demand for it. That really surprises me. I loved it when I used the service and would happily pay the extra $30 per flight to have wireless broadband (close enough to broadband anyway) at my seat, but I guess that's just cause I'm an incurable internet nerd. Seems most folks would prefer to kick back and watch a movie.
