There’s lots to be admired about Silicon Valley…the innovation, the productivity, the palpable sense of progress, and I for one would love to have had the opportunity to spend time there (still would).
However I see nothing appealing about the kind of startup MO described in this SFGate article. They profile Meetro.com, Hubpages.com, and Box.net, all cool services in their own right, but man I honestly can’t think of anything worse than spending 24/7 living and breathing the biz, eating pizza and sleeping on top of the servers. That’s just not healthy.
I guess I am getting old.

UPDATE: Trade Me have closed down smaps.co.nz
–
Cool, Trade Me have launched a new map site for New Zealand, smaps.co.nz. In their usual style they’ve kept it super simple and clean. No clutter, no animated banners, fast and easy to use. Sweet.
They’ve licensed the tech from zoomin.co.nz which is great cause zoomin is fabulous, but I suspect was finding it hard to get traction against competitors. Trade Me on the other hand can point the traffic hose at smaps.co.nz and be sure of getting some real traction right from the start.
All good, and we were lucky enough to get ad placement on the site for launch.

I had the very great pleasure tonight of seeing a performance by the indomitable Wing.
Our media agency, Media360, threw a 3rd birthday party and Wing was a special celebrity guest performer (not many people can say they’ve been a character on South Park and have their own Wikipedia entry).
The thing about Wing is that she is completely genuine. She is one of those rare people who is truly doing what she wants to do and no one can take that away from her. You just have to give her credit. Lesser people would come away from their 15mins jaded and bitter, but not Wing , she’s still rocking…
And I mean that figuratively and literally. Her encore was a rousing rendition of Highway to Hell. Go the Acka Dacka. Go Wing, you rule.

OMG, Hellodeo is just brilliant. I predict this will be huge.
Vlogging just got so easy your grandmother can do it….I’m gonna have to get me a web cam just so I can play too.
How good would it be to hang out and build cool stuff all day, those lucky Odeo monkeys :)

Seems this blog is the number one result for “blogsmith“. I wrote a post ages ago wondering out loud if Weblogs Inc. would roll out their blogging platform, Blogsmith, as a commercial product, and I guess no one else has ever written anything about it!?
Jason Calacanis made some remarks on his blog eons ago that suggested they might commercialize it at some point, but I guess they’ve been busy with all that AOL stuff.
Anywho, atleast I’ll be ready if they do rollout Blogsmith and introduce an affiliate program :)

This image is apparently of a regular Google adsense block on a forum, but with a small image to the left of the ad. This is something that webmasters have been doing forever to improve clickthrough on Adsense blocks, but if the person who posted this image is to be believed, Google are now experimenting with inserting images themselves.
I am not sure if this is legit, but it would be an interesting dvelopment if it is.
