Handling RSS in the browser

Lots of discussion going on at the moment about the problem with surfacing RSS feeds to unsuspecting readers, ie. for the vast majority of punters raw XML is complete gibberish.

This is the problem which FeedForm tries to address (see my feed), although I appreciate it is far from a perfect solution being that it subverts the original feed url, which would probably annoy more experienced RSS users.

    You don’t need to use a service like that or break the URL to get a “browser friendly” view of your feed. All you need to do is link a stylesheet to your feed and browsers will transform it for you. See my feed at http://www.kalsey.com/rss.xml for an example of this.

    I know, that’s why I said it would probably annoy more experienced RSS users. It might be a little better than raw XML for folks who’ve no idea how to link a style sheet to their feed.

    Perhaps the blog software vendors should ship with XML style sheets in place already…or do they?
