ChangeThis!

Seth Godin posts about the official number of manifesto downloads they’ve had from the ChangeThis web site and postulates about the real reach given pass alongs and shared copies etc. He reckons all up it might be something like 250,000, which he goes on to compare favorably to the typical sales of even the most popular business books.

Interesting, but what popped into my head when reading this is wouldn’t it be cool if they could actually track the ‘real reach’ of the ChangeThis experiment, which in turn remided me about the most recent release from Eyebeam R & D, FastTrack

…a system for tracking and mapping the circulation of email forwards, political calls-to-action and petitions. ForwardTrack is designed to encourage activism by graphically revealing the power of social-networks and demonstrating the impact of the individual’s voice in the political process…

Very cool stuff…not sure that it would fit exactly with the ChangeThis distribution model, but I reckon it would be worth looking at and atleast considering how it might be used to enrich their understanding of their ‘real reach’.
